ALMA MATER:  Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi (Bachelors)

Alexis has over 5 years of experience in career services, financial aid, advising, and admissions within higher education. Alexis received her BA in Communication Studies from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. She is currently attending the University of Houston – Clear Lake where she is pursuing a MS in Multicultural Studies in Education. One of the most rewarding things about her work has always been motivating others to pursue their academic, personal, and professional goals. With enthusiasm and a true passion for educational and personal achievement, she feels honored to assist students and their families with their transition into higher education.

WHY MY JOB IS AWESOME:  I love giving families the support and encouragement they need to accomplish their dreams!

FUN FACT:  Alexis loves coffee or breakfast tacos any time of the day. She also loves traveling, reading, and trying foods from other countries!  

 

Rachel HarrisRACHEL HARRIS, MA

ALMA MATER:  University of North Texas (UNT) & University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL)

Rachel received her BA in English from University of North Texas before living in England for a year of graduate studies at the University of York.  She returned to Houston where she completed her MA in Cross Cultural Studies at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.  Rachel has been assisting students for the past decade, including being a high school ESL and history teacher. She is excited to assist students in continuing their education and be successful in reaching their goals.

WHY MY JOB IS AWESOME:  I love helping students be prepared for tomorrow and plan for the future.

FUN FACT:  Rachel loves traveling and has been to 15 countries.  When she's not planning her next trip, she loves trying new foods, reading and finding great deals.

 

Gabriela LunaGABRIELA LUNA

ALMA MATER: Ashford University - Clinton, Iowa (Bachelors)

Gabriela has over 4 years of experience in career services, financial aid, advising, and admissions within higher education.  Gabriela received her BA in Psychology from Ashford University in Clinton Iowa. Gabriela enjoys advising students from many different cultures, ethnicities, and educational backgrounds.  She enjoys assisting students with developing educational plans that empower them to achieve their objectives. She is bilingual and very passionate in assisting students in both English and Spanish. 

WHY MY JOB IS AWESOME:  I can challenge students to do their best and expand their horizons.

FUN FACT:  When I was younger I was in a semi-pro soccer team here in Houston, and I'm still able to dribble a soccer ball.

I pursued and earned my degree in Psychology and loved everything about it and the direction it lead me in helping those reach their goals and aspirations. Learning the psychological aspect of what it takes to move forward in higher education helped me mold my career and put forth my abilities and strengths to help those who need guidance and direction. I will continue to give my students motivation, provide them with college opportunity awareness, and most of all help them reach their ultimate goal in being a successful college student.

WHY MY JOB IS AWESOME: I love giving students opportunities they thought were unreachable and then seeing them conquer their dreams and goals.  This gives me a humble feeling of knowing I made a difference in these students education and career. 

FUN FACT: I love and adore my little puppy and I believe in animal rights.

ALMA MATER:  San Jacinto College & University of Houston – Clear Lake

I started out at San Jacinto College earning an Associate’s Degree in Journalism. I then transferred to the University of Houston – Clear Lake where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I was thrilled to have an opportunity to come back to San Jac as an employee and be part of the wonderful community that supported me through my degree.

WHY MY JOB IS AWESOME:  My job is awesome because I have the privilege of helping students find their path into college. I believe it only takes one person to make a difference in someone’s life. I do not believe that college is not for everyone. Tell me your dreams, and I will help you find the path to make it come true.

FUN FACT:  I love to sing and I hope to star in a musical one day. I also want to sing with a mariachi band one day! (Just for fun!)

Kimberly Steele is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 20 years of counseling experience.  Kimberly received her BA in Psychology from Baylor University and her MS in Counseling from University of Houston – Clear Lake.  Kimberly was first in her family to graduate from college so she understands the challenges that first generation students face when applying to college.  She strives to assist students in recognizing their strengths and make their transition from high school to college more seamless. 

WHY MY JOB IS AWESOME: Seeing students graduate and the impact it has on them and their families.

FUN FACT:  Kimberly loves to travel with her son and scuba dive.

ALMA MATER:  The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) & Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU)

Laura just celebrated her 5th year with San Jacinto College as a Shared Educational Planner! Laura attended UTSA immediately after her high school graduation from Texas City High School in 2003. She graduated from UTSA with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Political Science.  She decided to continue her education and received her Masters of Science degree in Nonprofit Management in 2012. Laura truly enjoys working with high school students and helping them realize their potential.

I earned my Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of Connecticut.  My 20 years of training and experience have led me to various educational settings such as public schools, non-profits, libraries, workforce development centers, and colleges. My mission continues to be eliminating barriers to success for students in all walks of life.  

WHY MY JOB IS AWESOME:  It gives me the opportunity to be a conduit to the personal and professional freedom that education can provide for everyone.

FUN FACT:  Since I'm from the nation's pizza capital, I could eat pizza every single day.
