GED / Adult Basic Education / Test Preparation

The ABE classes have an open enrollment policy, class work will emphasize academic skills, life skills or job skills.
While the classes are designed for students who need to improve or brush-up on their basic skills, the GED classes offer high school level instruction to prepare students for their exam. The GED testing program gives adults a way to demonstrate competency equivalent to a high school education; the GED preparation tutorial is offered as a series of classes in all five-subject areas. The tutorial covers the subject matter at a slower pace and allows for a greater focus on subject matter than the traditional GED review Note: The GED is earned by passing all five-subject areas on the GED test (math, language arts reading, language arts writing, social studies and science.
San Jacinto College also offers the GED preparation tutorial, and its individual courses, in Spanish.
