Whether preparing for employment or picking up a new hobby, the Continuing and Professional Development (CPD) division at San Jacinto College offers a variety of courses for workforce training and lifelong learning.

This noncredit division of the College provides training for both current and future employees in the professional and technical job sectors, as well as provides participants with open enrollment course options to enhance their lives.

Professional and technical training is available through contract training, open enrollment and grant funding.

The workforce area of the division offers courses developed to meet the growing needs of local industry by providing training to up skill workers and allow them the opportunity to keep up with changing technology in such industries as petrochemical, manufacturing, health care, aerospace and maritime.

Contract training programs are designed working closely with companies to identify specific areas in need of additional skills; in result, workers stay competitive within their industry. Open enrollment is for any individual who is looking to change career paths. A participant may select from any one of the division's fast track curriculum options to earn a certificate that will provide him or her with the necessary credentials to obtain a job in that field. Based on availability and specific criteria, grant funded courses are available to businesses and individuals to address a specific training need within an industry.

Not only does the division provide vital training for workers, many participants find enjoyment by picking up new skills they've been eager to learn. CPD lifelong learning courses offer people a variety of affordable lessons in such areas as dance, martial arts, scrapbooking, retirement, and motorcycle riding. More than 40 course options have been developed for the purpose of leisure learning and are meant to balance one's life from the day to day stresses of life and work.
