HOUSTON – The 22nd Annual San Jacinto College Foundation Golf Tournament will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Golf Club of Houston, home to the prestigious PGA Tour’s Houston Open.
The annual charity event, known to provide scholarship funding for San Jacinto College students, will benefit an even greater cause for the College community. This year, due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Harvey, all sponsorship, raffle, auction and donation funds made at the golf tournament will benefit the San Jacinto College Emergency Relief Fund. Immediately after the hurricane, the San Jacinto College Foundation established the Emergency Relief Fund to assist students and employees severely affected by the natural disaster. In addition, with the help of Barnes & Noble, students have also been able to apply for textbook assistance through the San Jacinto College Emergency Relief Textbook Fund.
“Hurricane Harvey may have come and gone, but those affected will long remember the devastation left behind,” said Ruth Keenan, San Jacinto College Foundation executive director of advancement. “Many of our students and employees remain in dire need of recovery assistance. It is important that those of us who were minimally affected make every effort to show we care and help reduce the financial barriers to successful completion for our students during this time of recovery. Our employees also need our support to get back on their feet. Any amount donated to the San Jacinto College Emergency Relief Fund is completely tax deductible. We are sincerely grateful to the support we continue to receive on behalf of our students and employees.”
To date the San Jacinto College Emergency Relief Fund has received nearly $100,000 in donations thanks to the continuous generosity of the College community. Visit the San Jacinto College Emergency Relief Fund webpage for more information on how to donate.
