The San Jacinto College Police Department’s female officers are more than law enforcement professionals — they are role models, inspired by family, teamwork, and a motivation to make a difference.

The officers share why they chose law enforcement and what they enjoy most about their roles.

Sabrina Naulings, chief of police

A deep commitment to enhancing her family’s financial legacy and ensuring a safer community fuel Naulings’ passion for her career. She believes the chance to create a secure environment for everyone in her neighborhood and beyond is vital for collective well-being.

“The most rewarding aspect is the ability to effect meaningful change in individuals’ lives daily,” Naulings said. “Whether I am responding to emergencies, preventing criminal activities, or fostering trust within the community, each day presents unique challenges and opportunities to fulfill my duty to protect and serve. Additionally, I value the profound sense of camaraderie and teamwork that arises from collaborating with dedicated professionals who share a commitment to public safety.”

Dominique Baxter, police sergeant

The chance to make a difference in people’s lives is what inspired Baxter to pursue a career in law enforcement. Bringing calm to chaos, helping those in need, and contributing to the safety of the community hold deep meaning for her.

Her husband’s dedication to law enforcement was another avenue of inspiration.

“What I enjoy most is the opportunity to be there for people when they need it most,” Baxter said. “I’ve worked in different environments, each with the chance to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether it’s solving a problem, providing guidance, being the voice of reason, or simply being a reassuring presence, I value the trust placed in me to make a positive impact."

Lila Vaughn, police sergeant

While working in a civilian role with a police agency, Vaughn found motivation in the officers’ strong teamwork and compassion. Seeing an opportunity to positively impact the lives of troubled youth was “incredibly rewarding.”

“My father's experience as a military veteran, along with the paramilitary structure of the police, significantly influenced my decision toward law enforcement,” she said. “I find fulfillment in assisting others and ensuring public safety. The chance to positively impact communities, solve problems, and offer support during critical situations is incredibly rewarding.”

Brigitte Abbs, police officer

Abbs’ inspiration began from a strong desire to serve and protect the community and positively impact others’ lives. She admired the commitment of family members who wore the badge, which resonated with her and fueled her passion for joining the ranks.

“I find it rewarding to have positive interactions with the staff and students and the ability to make a direct impact on the campus community,” Abbs said. “I enjoy being part of a close-knit team with strong camaraderie. Strong bonds with fellow officers and command staff provide support and a sense of belonging.”

Samantha Hutchison, police officer

“My greatest inspiration is my father, who encouraged me to pursue a career in law enforcement after his successful tenure with the Houston Police Department,” Hutchison said.

She takes pride in being a vital member of the outstanding San Jac police team and looks forward to a promising future in her career.

Latresha White, police officer

White has been fascinated with law enforcement from a young age, dreaming of wearing a uniform and standing strong for her community.

“It’s profoundly fulfilling when I can lend a helping hand to those in need, providing support and comfort during difficult times,” White said. “This commitment to making a positive difference in people's lives fuels my passion for law enforcement.”

White enjoys serving her community, especially inspiring young children who dream of becoming police officers.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to connect with individuals who recognize my presence and the work I do,” she said. “When they express how my efforts make them feel safe and secure, it reinforces my commitment. The smiles on their faces and their stories motivate me to continue making a positive impact in their lives.”
