Justin Plakas: Camaro Lucinda
A Solo Exhibition of New Sculpture and Video Work

The San Jacinto College South Campus Gallery presents an exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Justin Plakas. Plakas combines digital technology with handmade processes to create immersive artwork that explores perception, memory and how technology shapes our lives. The exhibition includes cast concrete, salvaged wood, painted panels and handmade props.

Humor is a key part of Plakas’ work. It invites viewers to look closer and think about ideas that may not be obvious at first. Beneath the playful and often unusual surfaces, his work explores change, loss, death and the contradictions of modern life. By transforming everyday objects and experiences, Plakas creates installations that are entertaining, thought-provoking and deeply human.

Plakas has shown and screened his work across the United States and around the world. His artist residencies include the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia. He is an assistant professor of studio art at the University of Arkansas School of Art.
