Saenz named to NJCAA committees

PASADENA, Texas — San Jacinto College Head Softball Coach Kelly Saenz has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I softball and swimming and diving committees.

NJCAA sport committees comprise NJCAA region directors who oversee a number of responsibilities throughout the year. These duties include the oversight of national rankings, All-America selections, postseason seeding and at-large selections, and national championship obligations.

"I am honored to have been selected to the Division I softball and swimming and diving committees," said Saenz, who is entering her 20th year of coaching. "This is a great opportunity to support these student-athletes from throughout the country to ensure they have the support they need to compete at a high level."

Saenz began her coaching career in 2003 at Frank Phillips College before joining the San Jacinto College softball team in 2004. She played professionally for the Smitty Midget girls division team in 1995 and 1996, leading that team to two of three consecutive Canadian championships. She is a member of the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame and the Softball Canada Hall of Fame.

Saenz is 649-407 overall and has led San Jac to six NJCAA World Series appearances. She played collegiately at Eastern Kentucky University, where she was the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year.
